Sanilac Petroglyphs

Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park protects and interprets Michigan’s largest known collection of early Native American teachings carved in stone. The carvings are called Ezhibiigaadek Asin, “written on stone,” in the Anishinaabemowin language.

Sanilac Shores Underwater Preserve

Sanilac Shores Underwater Preserve stretches from Lexington in the south  to just north of Forestville.  At least 16 shipwrecks lie above 120' depth within this area.

A hub of activity for Port Sanilac, be sure to check out this location.  


From seasonal events like the Halloween Walk or Christmas Sing Alongs, to the Farmer's Market hosted on most Friday's.

Harbor Beach

Following M-25 North, the next major town that you will run across is Harbor Beach. 


They host their Farmer's Market on Wednesday's and have another beautiful lighthouse to check out with guided tours available on Saturday's throughout the summer.

Port Sanilac Lighthouse

Port Sanilac Lighthouse is privately owned by the Shook’s ( since 2014).  The property and lighthouse are closed to the public, however the owners have an arrangement with the Sanilac County Historical Society to provide limited tours during the summer months. Visitors are encouraged to visit the lighthouse from the sidewalk and other public viewing areas outside the fence.
